Podcasts

The GLSA is excited to be releasing a new episode of Podcasts every fortnight, commencing Mid-April!

We aim to cover 1 to 2 topics every semester with 2 to 3 episodes per topic. Every topic will include one introductory episode to provide sufficient background knowledge of the topic, followed by another one or two interview episodes with an expert to build upon the issues identified in the introductory episode.

Each episode length will fall between 15 to 30 minutes for students to listen to it easily while exercising, commuting, and so on.

A Facebook group will be created to allow students to discuss the topic, share resources, and raise any questions that would likely to be answered by the expert(s) in interview episodes. Transcripts of all episodes will be made available!

The first topic of the Podcasts will be on climate change, so stay tuned for more information!

International Students Mooting Competition

Together with the AALA, the GLSA are proud to announce the first annual International Students Mooting Competition! Through this event, we’re hoping to provide an opportunity for International Students to gain mooting experience and work on their advocacy skills. Due to the current situation with Covid-19, this competition will be running online!

After overwhelming interest from the community at Monash, the ISL Mooting Competition is upgraded to a multi-school event! Participating – and especially excelling – in a cross-university event like this would look amazing on a resume, and luckily for you guys we still have a few spots left! Anyone who wishes to improve their advocacy skills is welcome to register (provided your team has at least one international student).

This moot only has one case problem – this year, to do with obligations – so there will be a very low time commitment necessary for legal research.

The first preliminary round will be on the 7th and 8th of April.
